Project Description:
  • The North-South expressway is an extended project of the Cologne metropolitan railway and connects the Cologne old town with the river Rhine between two existing tunnels.
  • The first building phase includes the 4 km long tunnels underneath the Cologne old town. The tunnels cross under the old town developments from the train station "Alter Markt" via "Heumarkt" to the crossover building "Waidmarkt" in a depth of 28 meters.
  • On March 3, 2009 the historic City Archives collapsed.
  • On June 17, 2009 engineers GuD/ILF were hired by KVB - the Cologne Public Transport Authority - to manage and supervise the construction site "Waidmarkt"
Scope of Services:
  • Supervision of the civil engineering and shell construction for the crossover building according to HOAI, § 57
  • Master supervision until the end of the shell construction according to HOAI, § 55 Nr. 8
